Charles was born in raised in Cario, Georgia. He has been playing professionally for 46 years. Charles has always been a die-hard purist for early R&B, Soul, and Funk. Growing up in South Georgia he was also inspired by Gospel and always appreciated the vocal harmonies in the music which he loved.

From 1971-1975 Charles played in The Jets Band, a band with his childhood friend “Mickey Thomas” (of Starship Fame), and toured both the East and West Coasts. During this time, he had the privilege to befriend some of the most renowned musicians of that era during the ’70s in the San Francisco, CA area. He also had the opportunity to play with Elvin Bishop during the mid-’70s.

His bass playing and vocal arrangement talents have helped refine the band. He is the “unk” in Funk.
